Cassie Consedine
Cassie Consedine grew up in Bartlesville, attending Jane Phillips Elementary, Central Middle School, Bartlesville Mid-High and Bartlesville High School. During her younger years she played soccer, basketball and track and field and once she reached high school she stuck with basketball and track and field. Consedine lettered all four years in track and field where she threw the discus and shotput. She placed fourth in shotput at regionals in 2006 and won regionals in 2007 and then finished fourth in the state. Cassie was a three-year letter winner in basketball where she played center. She was All-Conference in 2006 and 2007 and was the 2007 Jim Thorpe Classic Women’s Basketball Suburban MVP.
Upon graduation from BHS Consedine attended the United States Naval Academy where she was a member of the women’s track and field team from 2007-2009 and started on the basketball team all four years of her college career. During her freshman season Cassie was the 2008 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, a member of the league’s All Rookie Team, earned All-Conference status, ranked second in school history for the most points and rebounds by a freshman as well as fifth all-time on the school’s three-point list, set a freshman record for double-doubles and earned the Admiral Charles R. Larson Team MVP Award. Consedine followed up her freshman campaign by setting new records throughout the remainder of her career, ranked high in multiple league and NCAA statistical categories and ended her career with 1,418 points, which was seventh in school history, 882 rebounds and 165 three-pointers, both of which were third in school history. On top of those achievements, Consedine holds the Navy career record for blocked shots with 215, blocks per game a 1.74 and defensive rebounds at 727. She ranks fourth in Patriot League history for career blocked shots and 10th in career rebounds.
Consedine served active duty as Surface Warfare Officer in Norfolk, VA from 2011-2016 and now lives in San Diego with her husband and two children. She remembers lots of highlights from both BHS and the Naval Academy but several that stand out are winning the 2006 Catoosa Port City Classic by beating the defending 5A state champion Claremore Zebras, winning regionals in shotput, playing in the old fieldhouse and beating American University to win the Patriot League Championship in a come from behind victory. In addition, she was helped along the way by lots of people including her family, Coach Gerald Thompson and her aunt Cynthia Cary who graduated high school a year after Cassie and attended the Naval Academy with her.
