Great American Conference

The Bartlesville Sports Commission is happy to announce that they will be hosting the Great American Conference Men and Women’s Basketball Championships in March of 2020.  The BSC was contacted in June by Will Prewitt, Commissioner of the GAC, and asked if they would consider hosting the event one more year.  The Conference has signed a new contract with another city to host the championships but they had a conflict for 2020, since the BSC and Bartlesville community had so much experience they asked if they would be willing to do it for one more year.
The BSC Board gave it careful consideration and for a number of reasons decided that it was the right thing to do.  Bob Pomeroy, Chairman of the BSC, stated, “among the regrets we had for not  bidding on the GAC tournament was the lose of economic impact for the City, missing out on the elementary school visits by the GAC student athletes, and the bowling event for special ed kids with other GAC student athletes.  These were 3 of the primary reasons the BSC continued with this event for 12 years.  But also, our Board felt that the GAC needed our help, we had a great relationship with the Conference office, the school Presidents, Athletic Directors, coaches and fans over the years and we wanted to help them out.”
The dates for the championships will be March 5-8, 2020 and the event will be held at the Bruin Fieldhouse.  More information will be coming in the near future.
