Mike Vaclaw

Mike was born in Bartlesville in 1942, and graduated from Col-Hi in 1960. In high school Mike played football, basketball, track, and baseball. In 1960 he was selected to the football all state team. In high school he played American Legion baseball and was the first player to hit a home run in the municipal stadium, now Doenges. With a number of schools vying for him, he told them all he wanted the chance to play for Bud Wilkinson. Mike went to OU to play fullback and defensive end for Bud Wilkinson. During the 1960 season Mike was on the freshman team, during a time when all freshman were ineligible to play varsity. In 1961 he left for a two year mission for his church retuning in 1963. Mike had a career knee injury that season ending his football playing days
